ESI Insured Person (IP) Registration in ESI Online Portal

Before October 2019, there was no restriction in generation and allotting IP numbers. But Employee State Insurance (ESI) has made an amendment through an official notification in November 2019, wherein all employers were directed to register employees on real time basis within 10 days from the date of joining in the establishment. If the date of appointment is beyond 10 days of online registration, online systems will not allow the employer to register employee’s enrolment on real time basis.

Many employers faced issues during this process. The issue was examined by ESIC and a solution was provided with attached conditions.

As per the new reforms, the system will allow registration of employees if the date of appointment is more than 10 days with conditions, a “Pop-up message” will be displayed during the online registration of employees which the employer has to either accept or reject. If an employer accepts the Pop-up message, Insurance numbers will be allotted to the employees and a show cause notice will be issued to the employer; where by the Employer has to reply/submit relevant records within 15 days to justify the delay. In other cases if the employer rejects the Pop-up message, the system will redirect to ‘change the date of appointment’.

LWF Online Payment for Maharashtra effective 1st January 2020

The LWF payment under Maharashtra Labour Law was to be done through manual mode until December 2019.

The department has issued a notification hereby making any such LWF payment allowable through online mode.

Every establishment must register themselves through https://public.mlwb.in.

Note: With the help of OTP, login and password for such account can be created. Every employee will get permanent LIN number. Also every employees’ or members’ mobile numbers need to be registered to avail all facilities for them and their family members.

Such payment for LWF contribution can be made through Debit card, Credit card, Net Banking, NEFT, RTGS. Once paid the employer can download the receipt directly from the portal.

Option to remit LWF through online mode, Karnataka

Under Karnataka Labour department, until now only manual LWF remittance was possible. However, the department recently has provided the option of online remittance also to companies and factories. The department has released a press note stating the details of bank accounts to be used for such remittances.

Once the online remittance is done, one needs to submit the hard copy of such payments along with duly filled and signed Form-D to the department.

Please note: The upcoming due date for LWF contribution is 15.01.2020. Any delay in payment will attract interest penalty up to 18%, and an inspection by the welfare commission.
